Grade 1 Visits the LMC

As part of their study unit “All for One and One for All”, Grade 1 students from Ras Beirut Elementary visited the Secondary School’s Library Media Center on November 4 and 5. The children wanted to know the different jobs all the librarians had and how they work together to make the school’s library organization run. Grade 1 students started their visit by interviewing the librarians. They had many thoughtful and pointed questions about what the librarians do and how they work together. The students were also very curious about all the books and other materials they could see in the LMC. “So many books,” commented one wide-eyed child. The librarians were delighted to explain how each of them works to locate, purchase, catalog and distribute the various books, videos, DVDs and magazines that we provide to all the libraries of the college. Each librarian ended his/her explanation with the comment “I can’t do my job all by myself; I need help from the others.” After the short demonstration and another question and answer session, Grade 1 students were given a tour of the LMC and had a sneak preview of the new books and other materials that we have just received for their Elementary library. The students are looking forward to using them soon.
