Recently the librarian had the camera out and wondered around the LMC, looking down the aisles and in corners. She snapped these pics of students "caught" enjoying a good book in the library. What were they reading? We don't know; the students were so engaged with their reading that she didn't want to interrupt them.
Next time she catches students enjoying a god read, she will stop and ask so we can all learn about the reading treasures our students are finding at the LMC.

New Middle School Library Opens

On Friday, November 7, the new Middle School Library opened its doors with a small ceremony attended by Middle School director Wadad Hoss, school librarians and Middle School instructors. The new library is almost twice the size of its predecessor and offers more IT equipment than the old library. There will be a total of nine computers for student use and the library has a multimedia facility equipped with a Smart Board, computer, DVD and CD player with speakers and amplifier. Middle School instructors can book the facility for use as a Demo Room as well as for research and class instructional purposes. There is also a great deal of new shelving space for the collection, and we look forward to acquiring new books, magazines and other material for everyone to use.
Middle School librarian Mrs. Saoussan Dufour is happy to welcome all Middle School instructors and students to come and take advantage of the new facilities for research as well as pleasure reading. “Mabrouk,” Middle School.

Grade 1 Visits the LMC

As part of their study unit “All for One and One for All”, Grade 1 students from Ras Beirut Elementary visited the Secondary School’s Library Media Center on November 4 and 5. The children wanted to know the different jobs all the librarians had and how they work together to make the school’s library organization run. Grade 1 students started their visit by interviewing the librarians. They had many thoughtful and pointed questions about what the librarians do and how they work together. The students were also very curious about all the books and other materials they could see in the LMC. “So many books,” commented one wide-eyed child. The librarians were delighted to explain how each of them works to locate, purchase, catalog and distribute the various books, videos, DVDs and magazines that we provide to all the libraries of the college. Each librarian ended his/her explanation with the comment “I can’t do my job all by myself; I need help from the others.” After the short demonstration and another question and answer session, Grade 1 students were given a tour of the LMC and had a sneak preview of the new books and other materials that we have just received for their Elementary library. The students are looking forward to using them soon.
